But within days, that dream collapsed into horror.
Raja disappeared under suspicious circumstances, and soon after, his body was discovered in a remote canyon. By the time authorities found him, his body was decomposing, making the investigation even more difficult. His identification had been removed. His wedding ring was missing. Everything that could quickly connect him to his new marriage and his final days had seemingly been stripped away. What first appeared to be a tragic and mysterious death soon began to look like something far more deliberate.
At the beginning of the investigation, police focused their attention on Raj Kushwaha, a man believed to have been romantically linked to Sonam. The betrayal did not end with Raja’s death.
After the killing, Raj Kushwaha reportedly returned to Indore expecting that Sonam would reunite with him and begin the future he believed she had promised. But investigators say Sonam had deceived him as well. She was allegedly involved with a third man and had already begun planning to remove Raj from her life too. The man who may have believed he was acting for love had, according to police, become another disposable piece in a much larger scheme.
As the investigation deepened, phone records became a crucial part of the case. Call details, location data, and communication patterns helped authorities piece together the movements of Sonam and the alleged accomplices. The evidence eventually led to Sonam’s arrest on June 8. Police say that during questioning, she confessed to her role in the crime, exposing a disturbing story of manipulation, greed, betrayal, and cold planning.
